Formats you can convert
The tool accepts the audio formats in use today, both those from cameras and phones and those from professional recording. These are the most common cases:
- Convert M4A to MP3. This is the format used by the iPhone and Apple's recording app. It becomes an MP3 without you needing iTunes.
- Convert WAV to MP3. WAV is uncompressed, so it takes up a lot of space. Conversion usually shrinks the file by more than ten times.
- Convert OPUS and OGG to MP3. These are the audio formats of messaging apps and several recording apps. MP3 plays on any device.
- Convert AAC and MP4 to MP3. Extracts the audio track and discards the rest.
- Convert FLAC and AIFF to MP3. Lossless formats, great for archiving and too heavy for everyday use.
- Convert WMA and AMR to MP3. Older Windows and telephony formats that many newer devices no longer play.
You can also upload an MP3 and get another MP3 back, which is useful when the original file is too large to attach to an email.
Frequently asked questions
Is the audio converter free?
Yes. The tool is free, requires no sign-up and has no watermark or daily usage limit. It is offered as a courtesy by Pushfy, a communication platform for businesses.
Which audio formats can I convert to MP3?
The main formats in use are accepted, including M4A, WAV, AAC, OGG, OPUS, FLAC, WMA, AIFF, AMR, MP4, MKV, WEBM, CAF, AU, APE and WV. MP3 itself is also accepted, which is useful for reducing the size of a large file.
What is the file size limit?
Up to 80 MB per file and up to 2 hours long. That limit covers practically any recording of a meeting, interview, podcast or voice message.
What happens to my file after the conversion?
The uploaded file and the generated MP3 are kept in a temporary folder outside the server's public area and are deleted as soon as you finish the download. If nobody downloads it, an automatic routine removes everything within 30 minutes. Nothing is indexed, shared or used for any other purpose.
Is the audio quality preserved?
The conversion uses a variable bitrate in the 190 kbps range, which is the balance point between quality and size for MP3. When the source file is already low quality, such as a voice message, the tool lowers the target: raising the bitrate does not recover information that is already lost and would only make the file bigger for nothing.
Do I need to install any software?
No. Everything happens in the browser and the conversion runs on the server, so it works the same on a computer and on a phone, with no app or extension to install.
